Mission Statement
About Us
We are a club formed to reinforce the fact that riding a motorcycle is fun and that enjoying riding, rallying, and making new friends develops a social life that can also help raise money for charities. The club has a few rules for those who wish to become members.
1. Prospective members must have attended at least 6 club meetings and 4 official club ride-outs
2. You have to be proposed and seconded by a full club member who has been in the club for at least 12 months.
3. New members can be voted in on the final meeting of every month, at least 70% of the attending membership must be in favour of the new member.
4.Membership runs from January to December, renewing membership must be completed on or before the last meeting in January.
5. Members who renew membership after the last meeting in January will be subject to a £5.00 additional admin fee.
6. Membership closes 1st March ex-members will have to re-apply to join the club.
7. Membership fees are an annual ammount, £5 for club badge + £5.00 for year patch + £5.00 BMF affiliation. Renewing members pay for year patch and BMF affiliation only.
In addition, we adhere to the rules of the road, respecting others and behaving in a manner that does not bring the club or other bikers into disrepute. Members are welcome from any background, with or without a bike as long as they have an interest in the activities associated with motorcycling. Members are encouraged to become involved in club activities and attend as many events as possible throughout the year. Members who require assistance with renovation, repair or ju
st advice then the membership pool is there to draw from. We have members from the Southport/Ormskirk and surrounding area who form the core of the club, with satellite members living in North Yorkshire & Belgium. Communication within the club is reasonable, club meetings are held on Wednesdays at the Zetland Hotel from about 6.30pm. The rallies we attend up and down the country are usually fairly well supported, although due to the usual constraints and the number of different events taking place in any one weekend members may go in different directions. We try and visit as many local clubs as possible, we organise a tour of a foreign destination once a year, 2006 was Germany, 2007 Belgium, 2008 Cancelled, 2009 ireland,France & Switzerland. Ride-outs are organised as often as time will allow and are well attended.
Southport Cruisers History
Following a very enjoyable rally hosted by Leyland Eagles MCC in May 2005, it was the general opinion of the people there from the Southport area that we should try forming a club under the banner of Southport Cruisers, nothing too formal or restrictive just a fellowship of like minded people coming together to enjoy the pleasures associated with motorcycling, open to all with an interest in motorcycles.
